Veteran’s Wall of Honor

Over 2,200 deceased veterans names from Marshfield are displayed on a the Veteran’s Wall of Honor. The display is located across from the Parks and Recreation office on the north end of the 2nd St Community Center. The Community Center is open Monday-Thursday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm and Friday from 7:30 am to noon. View the Stierle Bird Exhibit on the lower floor of the 2nd St Community Center and visit the Marshfield Heritage Museum next to the bird exhibit during operating hours of 1:30 pm to 4 pm on Wednesday and Saturday.

This project has been spearheaded by local resident, Tom Buttke, along with his two sisters, Renie Rehmer and Cathy Tauschek. The process started little over three years ago when Buttke and his sisters visited a local cemetery and found that a lot of the veterans didn’t have any recognition on their grave sites for their military service. That day gave Buttke the spark to do something for those veterans. Buttke has gathered volunteers and fundraised funding by holding brat fry’s, applying for grants, and seeking out donations. Donations for the project are being handled by the Marshfield Area Community Foundation, and information can be found by visiting their website at https://www.marshfield.foundation
