This project has been spearheaded by local resident, Tom Buttke, along with his two sisters, Renie Rehmer and Cathy Tauschek. The process started little over three years ago when Buttke and his sisters visited a local cemetery and found that a lot of the veterans didn’t have any recognition on their grave sites for their military service. That day gave Buttke the spark to do something for those veterans. Buttke has gathered volunteers and fundraised funding by holding brat fry’s, applying for grants, and seeking out donations. Donations for the project are being handled by the Marshfield Area Community Foundation, and information can be found by visiting their website at https://www.marshfield.foundation
